Sunset Key Guest Cottages, A Westin Resort, re-opened its doors on September 11, 2008, following the threat of Hurricane Ike. Sunset Key sustained no damage resulting from the storm, which passed 145 miles to the south/southwest of Key West. The island of Key West also sustained no structural damage and is fully re-opened to visitors.
